Michael, our in house Goldsmith, has been an APBA member since 1977. Team Casual Boat Racing Jewelry came about when Michael was helping a J-Kid in 1996ish, Jeff Bernard and his Uncle Mark Weber’s Boat Charm fell out of his shirt while starting the engine. Michael asked him who made it and he stated it was a jeweler on the East Side of Detroit. He then asked why Michael was interested. Michael explained that he was a goldsmith and makes things like that as well. Mark went on to say he is the Inboard Racing Commissioner and they wanted to do award rings and asked if he could do it. He responded with an automatic YES. From that day on Michael made Inboard Racing Championship Rings for about 10 years, making over 300 Rings. Michael has also made Offshore, Tunnel, and Stock Outboard Championship Rings. 

Over the years Michael has donated multiple Championship Rings to Marathon and Short Course Nationals. We take pride in being able to provide an award that will last a lifetime for our fellow racers. 

Michael has raced for over 40 years, only taking a break this year due to a total knee replacement but that won’t keep him down for long. Michael’s two children William and Marissa also race, with a focus on 25ssr Marathon.
